V-Day, UNICEF Teams Up With Everyone Loves Buttons USA To Spread Word of Worldwide Peace

V-Day Founder, Eve Ensler Calls for Ending Rape, sexual torture against girls in eastern Democratic Republic Of Congo (DRC) and ELBusa Will Manufacture the Global Messages

[USPRwire, Mon Nov 12 2007] Everyone Loves Buttons, Inc. (ELBusa) has partnered with UNICEF to manufacture 40,000 custom-made promotional buttons as part of a V-Day campaign that begins November 24, 2007 to benefit victims of violence in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's award winning play The Vagina Monologues. In 2007, more than 3000 V-Day events took place in the U.S. and around the world.
“The V-Day movement has raised more than $50 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women,” said President Maura Statman, ELBusa Creations, the only woman-owned business providing official licensed promotional products in the GOP Presidential Campaign. “We're proud to be part of UNICEF's international; educational, media worldwide campaign to end violence against women,” said Statman. “People who buy these items will feel like they are giving from the heart.”
Spotlighting the issue of violence against women and girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), renowned Playwright Eve Ensler has chronicled her first-hand encounters with women in eastern DRC, where sexual violence has become a routine weapon of war. Her account appeared in the August issue of Glamour magazine.
ELBusa specializes in custom pinback buttons, magnets, vinyl banners, stickers as well as embroidered and screen printed USA made products and more.
“Before I went to Congo, I'd spent the past 10 years working on V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and girls. I'd traveled to the rape mines of the world--places like Bosnia, Afghanistan and Haiti, where rape has been used as a tool of war. But nothing I ever experienced felt as ghastly, terrifying and complete as the sexual torture and attempted destruction of the female species here. The violence is a threat to all; young girls and village elders alike are at risk. It is not too strong to call this a femicide, to say that the future of the Congo's women is in serious jeopardy,” Ensler said.
