Local Architecture Firm Completes Facilities Management Building For UNC Asheville
[USPRwire, Thu Aug 23 2007] Charles Brown, principal and director of sustainable design at SFL + a Architects, a firm designed to provide state-of-the-art architectural solutions to educational institutions, has announced the firm’s completion of the Physical Plant, a facilities management office building located on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Asheville. The $5.5 million state-of-the-art structure measures 27,700 square feet across eight acres. The building incorporates geo-thermal, HVAC and solar panels, as well as a number of other “green” strategies aimed at reducing the total cost of ownership of the facility and reducing energy costs by 40 percent.
The goal of this project was to construct high performance building within a university budget that minimized site impact while building equitable sized offices with good access to daylight.
