[USPRwire, Mon Oct 29 2007] Students from the San Diego Golf Academy (SDGA), the oldest and largest golf college in the world, recently volunteered their time and services for a group of disabled athletes. Staff members and students from the Phoenix campus served as caddies and scorers for the Special Olympics recently held at the Vistal Golf Course in Phoenix.
“More than 60 volunteers from our campus participated in the event,” says Tim Eberlein, campus director of SDGA Phoenix. “We work hard at SDGA to support and promote such positive attitudes about giving back, and we couldn't be more proud our students.”
The Special Olympics Arizona chapter works to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The activity gives the participants ongoing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Founded in 1974, San Diego Golf Academy is a two-year golf school that helps take golfers' skills to the next level while preparing them for a rewarding and successful golf career. SDGA's programs and curriculum are designed to balance classroom studies with practical experience and comprehensive understanding of the business of golf.
SDGA offers a 16-month program of golf instruction and golf business management on five campus locations in major golf markets - Phoenix, Honolulu, Myrtle Beach, Orlando and San Diego. The curriculum is designed to provide graduates with the education required to get the golf job they desire. The SDGA is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), a national advocate and institutional voice for self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation.
