[USPRwire, Fri Feb 15 2008] Since June 25, more than 200,000 homeowners have called a national foreclosure prevention hotline co-sponsored by a Texas-based law firm. Barrett Daffin Frappier Turner & Engel, one of the nation’s leading law firms dedicated exclusively to the mortgage banking industry, has provided financial support and other resources to the effort by NeighborWorks America to help families facing foreclosures on their homes. The firm has been joined in the initiative by major residential lenders such as Washington Mutual, Wells Fargo and Bank of America.
“Many lenders are prepared to work with borrowers to avoid foreclosure if at all possible,” says Barrett Daffin managing partner Mary Daffin. “Research shows that every foreclosure prevented in a neighborhood helps stabilize surrounding home values. Alliances such as NeighborWorks are raising public awareness and counseling individual homeowners about the steps they can take to avoid foreclosure.”
Managed by the Homeowners Preservation Foundation, the average daily call volume to the 888-995-HOPE hotline has increased more than 270 percent since the public service campaign was launched last summer through the distribution channels of the National Ad Council and corporate sponsors.
