Recent Study: Japan Freight Transport Report Q3 2014

New Transportation market report from Business Monitor International: "Japan Freight Transport Report Q3 2014"

[USPRwire, Tue Jul 29 2014] Japan's GDP increased an annualised 6.7% in January-March, quicker than a preliminary 5.9%, according to data released by the Cabinet Office on June 9 2014. The increase is attributed to a 7.6% quarter-on-quarter rise in business investment in the reported period, revised up from an initial estimate of a 4.9% rise. In addition, consumer spending rose 2.2%, more than a preliminary 2.1% increase, in the first three months of the year.

Strong business investment is expected to help the economy rebound from a forecast 3.5% decrease in April-June following a sales-tax hike in April. Izumi Devalier, a Japan economist at HSBC Holdings in Hong Kong, said 'The slowdown in the second quarter doesn't look catastrophic, and the question now is how fast the pickup will be after then,' reports Bloomberg.
