[USPRwire, Tue Aug 19 2008] After years of building the most dependable and long-lasting trucks on road, Chevrolet introduces the 2009 Silverado, a Two-Mode Hybrid pick-up. Chevrolet will be the first manufacturer to offer truck enthusiasts a two-mode hybrid full-size pick-up.
The 2009 Chevy Silverado Two-Mode Hybrid production is scheduled to begin in late 2008 with limited availability. This Hybrid Truck is expected to provide the same dependability, power, and performance that one expects from a Chevy Truck. In addition, it's expected to feature cutting edge technology to help the drivers through the rigors of everyday life, while being conscious of the environment.
The Hybrid Pick-up gets a two-mode propulsion system. In the first mode, at low speed and carrying light loads, the vehicle can operate in three ways: electric power, engine power, or in any combination of electric and engine power. When operating with electric power, it provides all the efficiency of a full hybrid system.
The second mode is used primarily at highway speeds to optimize efficiency. It provides electric assistance in addition to four-cylinder or full eight-cylinder power when conditions demand it, such as trailer towing and climbing steep grades. The vehicle is expected to offer the benefit of excellent efficiency while also providing plenty of horsepower and torque.
